Here’s a quite large collection of photos with people violently shaking heads. We often see this phenomenon at dogs. It’s called “jowling”, and is far less adorable when humans do it. The violent shaking of one’s head side-to-side in order to obtain a photograph of one’s face distorted from the intense side-to-side motion. One useful thing you can do with this technique is to simulate a heavy punch to the face. If you want to try your hand at jowling photography, just make sure you use a fast enough shutter speed to avoid any motion blur. A good way to do this is simply to use flash. Take a look. Enjoy.

29 April 2011, at the International Animation CCJOY LAND, Changzhou City, Jiangsu Province, China -1,530 participants dressed themselves up as characters from comic books, setting a new Guinness World Records™  record for the largest gathering of people dressed as comic book characters. The previous record was 1,016. The event was organized by International Animation CCJOY LAND to celebrate the opening of the JOY LAND. The participants were fans of cosplaying, recruited via the web. They were coming from cities all around China.

Before the gathering, all participants put on the costumes of the characters they like and entered into the location. The characters were many varieties, including Batman, Superman, etc. Guinness World Records™ Adjudicator Angela Wu adjudicated at the event. With the help of two experts, she checked if the characters were from comic books and if their costumes were up to the standard. Among all the 1,731 participants, 201 failed to be counted into the total, as they were characters from video games, TV shows and story books. Finally 1,530 participants were counted into the final number. Making sure all the requirements of the guidelines met, the Adjudicator Angela Wu presented the certificate to the representative of the organizer.

Ramajit Raghav (96) from the Indian state Haryana is officially the world’s oldest father, when he became a father in his late nineties, two years ago. In 2010, his second wife Shakuntala (54) gave birth to their first son Karamajit. Though he claimed that one child is enough for him, this vital retiree didn’t complain about having the second one. When Shakuntala was in the hospital, and Ramajit said he was the father, doctors were surprised and laughing. What does Ramajit have to say? “What can I do? It’s God’s will. God wanted me to have another son” – said Ramajit to those who interviewed him after this marry happening. The oldest father in the world lives with his family in a small house, but he has planned a bright future for his sons. “I have been a farmer all of my life, but I want them to become high state officials” – he said.
